Just because you haven’t seen it in a while, doesn’t mean it’s gone

Confidence. Sexiness. Self-Love. Faith.

We all go through phases when things we take for granted go away. It’s usually a gradual process. So gradual that by the time we realize it’s gone, we feel like we never had it.

How do you get back something so elusive?

Baby steps.

  1. Ask for help. Our inner voices can be bitchy – make sure you’ve got a loud cheering squad to drown it out. If your confidence is shot, ask your best friend, spouse, co-worker to point out when you do something great.
  2. Find the bright sparks, celebrate the small stuff. Go after quantity, not quality for this. Write down everything that helped you towards rediscovering what you lost. Even if it’s just writing down that you didn’t have a good day but are committed to trying again tomorrow.
  3. Be patient. It was a gradual process to lose it. It’ll be a gradual process to get it back. Forget about setting deadlines, milestones you want to reach. It’ll happen in it’s own time. However, know this, you will get it back.

You’re not alone.

Frog jumping contest, t-shirt snug against me as I whack the mat behind my bullfrog. Year after year, picture after picture. That tummy stands out to me like a beacon.
